MPC Instructors

The Monmouth Pickleball Club is fortunate to have a number of certified instructors as members of their organization.  Please feel free to contact these instructors directly to discuss group and individual lessons.

Kim Smith has been teaching pickleball for over three years and has taught hundreds of players.  She has taught through the Monmouth County Park System, the Community YMCA, New Shrewsbury Raquet Club and local towns.   She is also the head clinician for Monmouth Pickleball Club.   Kim is certified as a Pickleball Teaching Proessional through the PPR and also as a Pickleball Coach through the IPTPA.   Kim can be reached via email at

Jim is a retiree who has a love for sports.  He is an avid golfer, and has also enjoyed playing basketball and softball.  He began playing pickleball a few years ago and immediately fell in love with the sport.  He is a member of the Monmouth Pickleball Club and began teaching the sport in 2018, after receiving his instructor certification through the Professional Pickleball Registry. Jim trains, not only those new to pickleball, but also players who are ready to take their game to the next level.

Many players know Jim through the Ft Monmouth Rec Program, where he has been assisting Kim Smith with the boot camps run by Monmouth County Parks and Recreation. He is also currently assisting Eatontown and Middletown Recreation in establishing their training programs.  Although Jim prefers to train small, hands-on groups of 4 to 8 players, and has all the equipment to set his own courts to do just that, he also enjoys working with large groups. He will travel to your local court for your convenience.

If you are interested in learning how to play pickleball or are ready to go to your next level of play, you can contact Jim Moran via cell (908 902-9822) or email at
